This Ofsted Successful Self-Assessment Reports course is delivered in two parts across two consecutive Friday mornings.  The dates shown above are for the first Friday morning of each course.  The second morning is always at the same time and is scheduled for exactly 7 days later.

This Ofsted Successful Self-Assessment Reports course is a completely new course.  It was developed in July and August 2021, specifically for managers and providers, who want to learn more about how best to complete the self-assessment report, to do justice to the quality of their Ofsted delivery.

This course will help you to demystify and streamline self-assessment, to make it work at its best for your organisation, and your learners.

The course leaders are all very experienced as Ofsted inspectors as well as being skilled trainers and facilitators with an immense amount of general Ofsted experience.  They have a genuine passion and enthusiasm for their subject. As one delegate said:

“I never thought a day spent talking about inspection could be so engrossing.”

The Ofsted Successful Self-Assessment Reports course is practical and packed with useful information. The presenters draw on their own experience as Ofsted inspectors, to help you to understand and interpret the inspection framework as it applies to the preparation of successful Self-Assessment Reports.

Institute of Leadership and Management approved training centre for Manager and Director Training and Workshops

The Ofsted Successful Self-Assessment report course is for:

  • Providers faced with the challenge of their first solo self-assessment report and
  • Established providers

In both cases it is for those who want to be sure that they are not only meeting their own high standards as well as more than meeting Ofsted requirements; but are also presenting and evidencing their achievements to Ofsted in the clearest possible way, within the self-assessment report.

It is an in-depth and information packed one-day course, delivered over two half days, preparing managers at all levels in the organisation to confidently prepare Successful Self-Assessment reports. By attending a specialist Successful Self-Assessment reporting course, delegates will not have to listen to discussions around other Ofsted related topics, which may not be relevant to their precise needs.

At its best, the self-assessment and quality improvement cycle is a powerful tool to pinpoint what you do well, identify weaker areas and plan for rapid improvement. However, even established providers can spend many weeks producing a self-assessment report which does not lead to any improvement to their actual service delivery.  For new providers, the self-assessment experience process can be even more demanding and confusing.  It can feel like entering an incredibly complex maze.

Common comments include:

  • “I’ve got so much information I can’t get to the facts.”
  • “How do I know whether something is good or not?”
  • “It’s really hard to engage staff.”
  • “I just want to check we’re getting it right.”

Formal Certificates of Professional Development will be issued to participants who successfully complete this training course

This course is delivered in two parts across two separate days, which will typically be 1-2 weeks apart.  This will allow delegates time to absorb and apply what they have learnt in the first part.  In order to prepare their own material for use in part two of the course.

The Ofsted Successful Self-Assessment Report course leaders have extensive experience both as inspectors and practitioners. They will draw on this expertise to give managers an insight into what Ofsted inspectors expect from and look for in the Self-Assessment Report.

By the end of the course delegates will be much better equipped to prepare a Successful Self-Assessment Report.

Chartered Management Institute Recognised Training Centre for Manager and Director Training Courses

Please note that the workshop is developed and delivered by Excellence in Learning. It is not an official Ofsted event.  Where official Ofsted Nominee Training is available, we would recommend attendance at both, as the content emphasis may differ.

Maximum of 10 delegates per course

Formal Certificates of Professional Development will be issued to participants

These courses are recognised for CPD purposes by most professional institutes and associations including the Institute of Leadership and Management, the Institute of Directors, the Law Society, the CIM, the CMI, the ICAEW, the Institute of Learning and the CIPD.

  • Who Should Attend This Ofsted Successful Self-Assessment Reports Course

This in depth one-day Ofsted Successful Self-Assessment Reports course is a completely new course.  It will be of value to managers and leaders at all levels within Ofsted providers, who are subject to inspection under the Education Inspection Framework for Further Education and Skills.

This learning programme will be especially valuable to managers and leaders, who are responsible for preparing a self-assessment report under the Education Inspection Framework for Further Education and Skills.  They may be responsible for a single site or curriculum area, or for an entire organisation.

It is essential for those managers responsible for teaching and learning, who will have a direct role in preparing and presenting the self-assessment report work to inspectors. It is also of interest to those responsible for other areas, for example, employer engagement, learner support, human resources, finance and information.  They will often also contribute to the report and need to understand the process.

It is equally as relevant to managers from sub-contractor organisations, as it is to those who hold direct contracts.

  • Internal Staff Training and Development

This Ofsted Successful Self-Assessment Reports, along with most of our other best practice training workshops, can be delivered as an internal training course at your premises. Even with groups as small as 6 delegates, the course fees per person for internal training workshops can be lower than for open events. The potential savings are even greater, if the  travel costs and travel time of the delegates are included.

Running training workshops internally is very convenient many of our clients and allows the participants to explore how key issues will impact on them and their organisation. Then as a team they can begin to agree upon development action plans and assign priorities. This approach is favoured by many of our clients as it combines a high quality service with excellent value for money and is a highly effective route for staff development.
